Avalon has an easy mix of casual and nicer spots, most within a short drive or bike ride. In peak summer, popular dinner places fill up — it's worth calling ahead or reserving where you can. Below are a few well-liked options to get you started; swap in your own favorites as you find them.
Kohler's has been an Avalon breakfast-and-bakery institution for decades — the sticky buns and crumb cake are the classics. Coffee Talk is the go-to for coffee, smoothies, and quick breakfast sandwiches on the way to the beach.
The Diving Horse is a longtime summer favorite for seafood and seasonal vegetables in a relaxed but polished setting. Via Mare and Son of a Sailor are also well regarded locally, and Summer Salt is a charming, smaller spot with seasonal, seafood-forward menus. Most of the nicer dinner places are seasonal and busy — reserve ahead when you can.
